Details

My grandfather was an art dealer. He owned an art gallery on Frishman street in Tel-Aviv. I was always fascinated with the moments in life that people are able to capture in artistic form. My mother was a painter and unfortunately, I have not been gifted with her talents in this regard (though believe me, I’ve tried!).

I’ve always been captivated by human emotions. Though we may have genetic differences or differences in perspective and belief, there is one thing all humans share and that is emotion. When I pass someone on the street, I imagine where their life experiences have taken them, who or what has made an impact on them, and how has that brought them to this place and time.

At the age of 15, I started using my mother’s camera. I remember it was a Nikon SLR with a multi-range lens. Nothing fancy, but it did the trick. I took literally hundreds of photos on each family trip and I would race to have them all developed immediately on our return. None were particular works of art (I still have thousands of them in a box somewhere) but those pictures marked the start of my journey into the world of photography. As I entered my 20’s, I started shooting at random parties and university events. Looking back, I realize that my motivation was to capture the passing moments in life that may otherwise be lost, and this remains the goal of all my work today.

I am not a professional photographer. I’ve experimented with many cameras, styles, and approaches but I’ve remained loyal to my M.O. of shooting people in their everyday life and in their everyday environments. I enjoy the reward that comes with showing my photos and allowing others to connect with a moment in time for whatever it is worth.

Today I run a software company in NYC and I take the camera with me when I go to work and when I travel for business or pleasure. I’m currently using a Leica M10 and a Leica Q2 Monochrome -  all with fix lenses (28mm, 35mm, 75mm)

This is the first time I'm showing my work so I hope you enjoy it,
